This all started because I was looking for a pro gun t-shirt, one that I would actually wear. I love guns and yet don't have any gun related shirts. Strange, right? I quickly found out that gun apparel generally sucks. There are a few brands out there that are ok but none of them had anything I would consider wearing. Why does every t-shirt, hat or hoodie have to come with some grand 2nd Amendment statement, why so in your face? Most of the crap out there is better used to clean my gun then to cover my nipples. When it comes to fashion and design, the industry is lacking any kind of real style. It's very one dimensional.
The skateboard industry has done what gun culture has yet to tap into, a style that captures the spirit of the sport without punching you in the face. I have skate shoes and the last time I got on board was at age 12.
As a graphic designer I wanted to come up with some designs that I could have printed and then sell to my friends just to cover the costs. A few hundred designs later I came up with something that I thought was pretty cool but I never really pursued it. That was about 5 years ago and has been on the back burner ever since due to family, work and just life in general. Then earlier this year, while having dinner with my long time friend Jordan, I started talking about Strapt. Jordan mentioned he wanted to start another business, so after talking about it for a while we made the decision to stop fucking around and go for it. Since our hang time usually consists of talking shit and busting balls, we knew we would at least have fun.
We feel we have created a brand that communicates our love of firearms, shooting sports and design. And being proud Americans we decided to make all of our products right here in the USA. Not many brands are doing this, most are not. We hope you like our stuff as much as we do.
If you didn’t already know, “Strapt” comes from the slang word “strapped”, which means “possessing a gun on your person”. Example: “Some dumb-ass tried to mug Grandma… she was strapped… so he ran like a little bitch.”
And thats the story.
